Celebrate Recovery is a 12 step, faith based, Christ centered recovery program that deals with alcohol and narcotic addictions, but also a whole bunch more. Overeating, pornography, gambling, sexual abuse, co-dependency; anything that is a hurt, hangup, or habit.
John Johnson: This is borrowed from someone else, but with permission to repost it. While it is not my story, it does seem to fit pretty close my own addictions. The process that this young man found to begin to overcome his addiction and heal is the same process that we find it Celebrate Recovery.
Being able to find others who share in addictions, who are both seeking to get out of that kind of lifestyle, is very important. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to my accountability partner or my sponsor, and confessed to them that I was feeling weak, and needing support. They are always there to help me thru the tough times, and those relapse moments. They pick me up when I need it, and they help me to get back on the road to recovery.

John Johnson: Confession
Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life" (TLB). [NIV uses "see if there is any offensive way in me," since our sin is offensive to a holy God.]
Confession of sin is necessary for fellowship with God and revival among Gods people. The word "confess" has as its root meaning, "to say the same as." Confession, then, is agreeing with God about your sin. [Forgiveness depends on confession; we need to have the mind of Christ to be unified with Him.]
Below you will find a series of questions to help you think through areas of your life that may need cleansing. On reading these questions, as you are convicted of sin, confess it at once to God. Be willing to make it right. Then you can claim cleansing and forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrig... ... moreConfession

John Johnson: I apologize for getting behind in my post for CR. Life got somewhat busy for me. Since the last post on lesson 4, Sanity, we have gone thru Lesson 5 Turn. Principle 3 tells us to Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control Happy are the meek. Matthew 5:5
Step 3: We made a decision to turn our lives and will over to the care of God.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of Worship. Romans 12:1
Before we can begin to receive healing and recovery from our hurts, hangups and habits, we have to make a conscious decision to turn our life over to Christ. God gave us free will. This is what separates us from the other inhabitants of this world. We have the ability to choose right and wrong, to follow Christ or not,to do what is good, or to do what is bad. John Johnson: I have posted some blog entries that correspond to the Celebrate Recovery program. I invite everyone to read my blog posts, as I am happy to share with everyone what God is doing in my life. They are too long to post here.
John Johnson: Last night, we began Lesson 4, Sanity. SANITY is defined as "wholeness of mind; making decisions based on the truth." INSANITY has been described as "doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time."
I was told once, long ago, that in an insane world, only the sane people appear insane. How does that apply to our lesson? Here's how. When we begin to leave behind us the insanity of our addictions, then those that we considered our friends; those that we thought were sane; we see the insanity of our old actions, yet our old friends call us insane for believing in God, and changing our lives. Whew! That can be confusing!
One of the questions asked in this lesson is "how has trusting only in your own feelings and emotions gotten you in trouble?" That's another deep question. Going on my own reactions and feelings has been detrimental in my life. I get angry and if I react with that anger I say things that I later regret. Emotions are given to us by God, ... ... moreLast night, we began Lesson 4, Sanity. SANITY is defined as "wholeness of mind; making decisions based on the truth." Zeni McClowI have had to think of 'feelings' like this: Think of these 3 thinks walking in a line, along the top of a fense. The first is "Facts", the 2nd is "Faith" (that is you) and the last is "Feelings". If your walking along that fense, you need to focus your "Faith" on the "Facts" as you go forward, because once you look 'back' at your "Feelings" you no longer are focused on moving forward forward with the facts and that is when your "Faith" stumbles. I hope this makes sense to someone besides me!

God, more than anything, I want to be the kind of person that You are searching the world for. Lead me and guide me in the way You want me to go, and shape me into a person who loves others, obeys Your Word, and truly knows You.

Praise be the name of God for ever and ever. Power and wisdom are His. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the decerning. He changes the times and the seasons. He knows what lies in darkness and light dwells in Him. He reveals deep hidden things...

Service to God is the overflow which pours from a life filled with love and devotion. There is no "call" to that service. Service is what I bring to the relationship and is the reflection of my identification with the nature of God. Service to God becomes a natural part of my life. God brings me into the proper relationship with Himself so that I may understand His call, then I serve Him on my own out of a motivation of absolute love. Service to God is the deliberate love-gift of a nature that has heard the call of God. - Oswald Chambers

Its great to be apart of a social club that offers encouragement, love and most important the WORD OF GOD. It's hard to stay on the right path when there are so many negative things going on in the world. I must say that I'm not where I want to be, but I'm so THANKFUL that I'm not where I use to be. And that was in a dark and lonely corner. I owe God all the praise for healing me from so many emotional and physical afflictions. And I just want to ask my fellow Saints to keep me in your prayers and I will do the same.
