John Johnson → Celebrate Recovery: This is borrowed from someone else, but with permission to repost it. While it is not my story, it does seem to fit pretty close my own addictions. The process that this young man found to begin to overcome his addiction and heal is the same process that we find it Celebrate Recovery.
Being able to find others who share in addictions, who are both seeking to get out of that kind of lifestyle, is very important. I can’t tell you how many times I have gone to my accountability partner or my sponsor, and confessed to them that I was feeling weak, and needing support. They are always there to help me thru the tough times, and those relapse moments. They pick me up when I need it, and they help me to get back on the road to recovery.

John Johnson → Celebrate Recovery: Confession
Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life" (TLB). [NIV uses "see if there is any offensive way in me," since our sin is offensive to a holy God.]
Confession of sin is necessary for fellowship with God and revival among Gods people. The word "confess" has as its root meaning, "to say the same as." Confession, then, is agreeing with God about your sin. [Forgiveness depends on confession; we need to have the mind of Christ to be unified with Him.]
Below you will find a series of questions to help you think through areas of your life that may need cleansing. On reading these questions, as you are convicted of sin, confess it at once to God. Be willing to make it right. Then you can claim cleansing and forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrig...  ...  more

John Johnson → Celebrate Recovery: Last night, we began Lesson 4, Sanity. SANITY is defined as "wholeness of mind; making decisions based on the truth." INSANITY has been described as "doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time."
I was told once, long ago, that in an insane world, only the sane people appear insane. How does that apply to our lesson? Here's how. When we begin to leave behind us the insanity of our addictions, then those that we considered our friends; those that we thought were sane; we see the insanity of our old actions, yet our old friends call us insane for believing in God, and changing our lives. Whew! That can be confusing!
One of the questions asked in this lesson is "how has trusting only in your own feelings and emotions gotten you in trouble?" That's another deep question. Going on my own reactions and feelings has been detrimental in my life. I get angry and if I react with that anger I say things that I later regret. Emotions are given to us by God, ...  ...  more

The first is "Facts", the 2nd is "Faith" (that is you) and the last is "Feelings". If your walking along that fense, you need to focus your "Faith" on the "Facts" as you go forward, because once you look 'back' at your "Feelings" you no longer are focused on moving forward forward with the facts and that is when your "Faith" stumbles. I hope this makes sense to someone besides me!
